What a visit is like

How Midas works, chain-wide - the same at this location.

  • An oil change takes about 60 minutes and covers the oil and filter change plus the complimentary Closer Look Vehicle Check.
  • Oil Change Plus adds a tire rotation and about another 15 minutes.
  • The Closer Look Vehicle Check is a visual inspection of dash indicator lights, a road test, wipers, exterior lights, battery and cables, engine and cabin air filters, hoses and belts, washer fluid, engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, exhaust, steering, shocks and struts, driveline and differential, delivered as a digital report to your phone with photos and video.
  • Conventional, synthetic blend, full synthetic and high-mileage oils are offered; Midas says it will not use an oil that fails your manual's specification.
  • Service is booked by requesting an appointment at a chosen store, online or by phone.

Ways to pay less

Midas publishes these chain-wide; confirm they run at this location.

  • Coupons and offers exist per store: you enter a location to see what that shop is running, then print or email the offer.
  • Mail-in rebates and a Midas credit card are offered alongside the coupons.

Questions

Why can't you show an official price for most of these chains?

Most of them publish none: they gate pricing behind a tool that asks for your vehicle first. Walmart Auto Care is the exception and is priced from its own national menu. For the rest, rather than invent a number, we cite a dated editorial source and label it.

What actually changes the price of an oil change?

Oil grade above all: full synthetic can cost roughly double conventional on the same car. Engine oil capacity and counter-added fees account for most of the rest.

What does the quoted price include?

Oil up to a set number of quarts, a new filter and disposal at most chains, plus a courtesy inspection. Extra quarts, cartridge filters and shop fees sit outside that, which is why the quote and the bill can differ.

Which oil does my car need?

The one in the owner's manual: grade and viscosity are specified by the manufacturer. Using a cheaper grade than specified is a false saving, and paying for a more expensive one than specified buys nothing.

How often do I actually need an oil change?

Follow the manufacturer's interval in the manual or on the car's service reminder. The sticker a shop puts on the windshield is frequently shorter than the manufacturer requires, particularly on engines running full synthetic.

Should I agree to the extras they recommend?

Check each one against the manual's maintenance schedule first. Air filters, cabin filters and wipers are genuinely consumable but rarely due at every oil change, and flushes are worth doing only when the schedule calls for them or a real fault is found.

Why was there a fee added at the counter?

Shop supply and disposal fees are standard practice and are often outside the quoted service price. Asking for the out-the-door total before work starts is the way to avoid the surprise.

Will using a chain instead of a dealer void my warranty?

No. Federal law protects your right to have routine maintenance done where you choose, as long as it is done to the manufacturer's specification. Keep the receipts, because the records are what prove it.
