What a visit is like
- Walk-in only; no appointments are taken for UV or spray tanning.
- A valid driver's licence and a cell phone are required to tan, and a card is needed to pay: no salon takes cash.
- All UV tanning is in level 5 stand-up booths; there are no lay-down beds.
- Minimum UV tanning age varies by state (15 with parental consent in FL and GA, 17 in PA, 18 in NY). Spray tanning has no age limit, but photo ID is required on a first visit.
- Memberships and packages can be used at any Zoom Tan location in the USA, and at Beach Bum salons.
Ways to pay less
- Yearly memberships are discounted against paying monthly.
- Sun members can add a spray tan, and sunless members a UV session, at a fixed member add-on rate.
- Half off select full-size lotions with an in-store membership purchase.
- Daily specials change day to day and are announced by text to active customers.
Good to know
- Equipment and services may vary at converted South Beach Tanning locations.
- Red light therapy and infrared sauna are only at select locations; check before buying a Wellness membership.
- 24/7 app access is only at participating 24-hour locations.
- Cancellation is handled online, not in the salon, and needs a cleared balance and up-to-date contact details.
What you're paying for
Recurring tanning access, sold monthly or paid a year up front, tiered by which beds and services are included.
Membership pricing is set per salon, so the same tier can differ noticeably between two locations in the same state.
- Tier (which bed levels are included)
- Monthly vs paid-up-front
- Salon sets its own rates
- Promotional periods are common
A one-off visit, without a membership: sunbed, spray tan, or a wellness-room session.
Bed level drives the single-visit price more than anything else: the same salon's cheapest and fastest beds can differ severalfold.
- Bed level or service type
- Introductory offers distort the advertised price
- Salon sets its own rates
Non-tanning services tanning salons have added: red light therapy, infrared saunas and similar rooms.
Red light and sauna sessions are sold on the same per-visit or unlimited basis as beds, at the same salons.
- Usually bundled into higher membership tiers
- Per-session rates are set per salon
